ORDERING OF PHOTOGRAPHS FROM PICAS
Please note that for reproduction of photographs, researchers would need to declare their usage to the National Archives of Singapore (NAS). Researchers are to seek permission in writing for usage and reproduction of restricted images (with Access Type “Restricted”) as imposed by the depositing agencies, accordingly. Researchers are to acknowledge source when using all photographs.
The images available online are for the purpose of research only. Unauthorized use of the photographs constitutes copyright violation. All images are watermarked to prevent illicit copying and usage.
To order, please note the details of the images you wish to order (by clicking on the chosen image) such as the accession number, the access type, the negative number and the source. You may visit the Archives Reference Room of the NAS to place your order, located at No. 1 Canning Rise, Singapore 179868. (Next to Registries of Marriages). NAS is opened from Mondays to Fridays : 9am to 5.30pm and Saturdays : 9am to 1.30pm.

Charges
The total cost for reproduction of archival materials includes Preservation Fees and Reproduction Fees. The Reproduction Fees are charged according to the different formats and sizes. Please refer to the tabulated Reproduction Fees under the different formats of archival materials.
Orders for reproduction of archival materials will be processed only when full payment has been made and permission for reproduction of restricted photographs has been granted from the relevant organisation / individual concerned.
Preservation Fees
Preservation Fees may be levied, depending on how the reproduction copies of the archival materials would be used by the researcher.

Tier 1 A fee of S$52.50 (inclusive of GST) per photograph/slide, per usage will be levied for using archival materials in products or services, for educational and cultural activities, for informational and illustrative purposes in publications, newsletters, television programmes and for display.
· Tier 2
A fee of S$525.00 (inclusive of GST) per photograph/slide, per usage will be levied for using archival materials for product development and commercial use, for example all forms of merchandising.
Notices Concerning Usage
Researchers are to take note of some of the following points concerning usage of reproduction copies of archival materials.
· Copyright Declaration Form
Researchers would be required to fill in a declaration form, stating that the researcher would assume all responsibility for use of the reproduction copies of the archival materials. This includes not using the reproduction copies for purposes other than the specific purpose stated by the researcher and that they would be used in a respectful manner. The NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF SINGAPORE reserves the right to take legal action if the photograph is used for a purpose in excess of what has been stated by researcher or used without permission for another undeclared purpose.
Researchers are to acknowledge the NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF SINGAPORE and the relevant private individual(s) or organisation(s), as the source for photographs used in the projects they have specified.
· Copyright and Donor Imposed Restriction
Some of the archival materials may be copyrighted and restricted by donor agreement. It is the user’s responsibility to identify the copyright owner and obtain all necessary clearance before making purchases or making commercial, broadcast, or any other uses of the these materials. The National Archives of Singapore cannot guarantee the status of specific items. Any use of these items is made at the researcher’s or purchaser’s own risk.
· Images Of Past and Present Prominent Political Personalities In Singapore
Some of the archival materials may consist of past and present prominent political personalities in Singapore. It is the user’s responsibility to obtain all necessary clearances from the relevant authorities, e.g. Senior Minister’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts, etc. before making commercial, broadcast, or other uses of these materials. The National Archives of Singapore cannot guarantee the status of specific items. Any use of these items is made at the researcher’s or purchaser’s own risk.
Reproduction Fees
Note :
· 7 working days are required for the reproduction of photographs and slides. Bulk orders of more than 20 photographs might take longer, depending on the number of photographs ordered. · Personal photo orders are limited to 5 photographs. Download order form (Requires DJVU Browser Plug-in)
